#TruthvsMyth: The truth about Detroit from
the perspective of Detroit-area students
#TruthvsMyth was a Scribe Tribe writing workshop hosted by Alkebu-lan Village in Detroit. Over the course of four sessions, students engaged in thoughtful discussions about the way Detroit is represented in the media, and how this often differs from their day-to-day experiences living in the city. They were then encouraged to do some freewriting on this topic, titling their works with 6-word stories (Ã la Ernest Hemingway). As you can see below, the finished output ranged from free verse poetry to open letters, but the theme of the "truth vs. myth" about Detroit runs throughout each piece.
