Meet the Tribe
Our board members, tutors, and mentors hail from a variety of cultural, and educational backgrounds, affording a diverse approach to some of the unique challenges faced by Detroit high school students looking to enter into higher education.
![]() Jerrice 'Dr.J' Donelson, M.A.T.Jerrice, playfully known as "Dr. J" by her students holds a Master's in Teaching Secondary English focusing on developmental writing with a minor in English as a Second Language founded Scribe Tribe in 2011. ![]() Danielle DeFauw, Ph.DDanielle DeFauw, is a professor of reading and language arts at The University of Michigan - Dearborn. She has over 15 years of experience teaching. She received her Ph.D. in Reading Education from Oakland University in 2010. The majority of her publications focus on motivating students to write through authentic literacy tasks and audiences.
