Hemingway's 6-word memoir was the topic of discussion as students at Alkebu-lan Village gladly accepted the challenge by creating their own versions about Detroit. As only one student was familiar with Hemingway's short story, many were eager to create their own versions as they were asked to create as many as they could think of in 5 minutes.
Here are some of the 6-word stories from the students, as well as the Tribe:
"Detroit versus everyone? or versus itself?"
"Incredible view, lasting memories, Detroit city."
"You're Detroit just by living here."
"Many leave. Some stay and believe."
"Choose Detroit or Detroit chooses you!"
"Detroit: a city with tough skin."
"Detroit: come see it for yourself."
"Detroit: worn on the hearts of many."
"Detroit's where you can be you."
"Undeniably Detroit will always be around."
"Broken beauty soon to be restored."
"Detroit city; strong and often misunderstood."
"Detroit student voices changing the narrative."
"Detroit bears the heart of America."
"Tomorrow will begin with Detroit's youth."
"Share the truth to change Detroit."
"Detroit mind. Detroit climb. Detroit mine."
"Emerge from ruins, Detroit will rise."
"Motown is dead, says Detroit haters."
"The new Detroit will be Bettermade!"
"Detroit is home--flaws and all."
